Kitchen Tools

These guides assume a cook who wants fewer, better tools, not a drawer full of gadgets. We compare build material, size, accuracy claims and warranty terms from maker documentation, and we read owner reviews for patterns on durability. We never claim to have tested a tool ourselves, only to have researched it closely.

What to look for in Kitchen Tools

Knives, cutting boards, scales and thermometers compared on build, accuracy and everyday fit.

  1. Specs We read the manufacturer's product page, spec sheet and manual for material, dimensions, weight, capacity, wattage, stovetop or heat source compatibility, and warranty terms
  2. Prices We do not print dollar prices
  3. Owner reviews We read a wide spread of owner reviews on Amazon, on the maker's own site and on independent forums, looking for a pattern rather than a single opinion
  4. What we never do We never claim to have run a product through a lab, a kitchen trial or a personal trial of our own
  5. Keeping pages current We re-check the products in a guide on a regular schedule, and we note the last verified date at the top of every page
